John Hanley is a native of Louisiana, where he graduated with a bachelor’s in Creative Writing and a bachelor’s in French from Louisiana State University. He then received his Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing, for which he wrote a short story collection entitled Cicada, from North Carolina State University.
